Kailey
Five-year-old Kailey has come a long way since she received blood
as a premature infant. Then only 2 pounds, 5 ounces, she was severely
anemic and needed blood from volunteer donors. Commit for Life donors
made it possible for Kailey to pull through those difficult first months
of her life. Today she is at the head of her kindergarten class!

Paul
No one exemplifies the importance of blood donations to sickle
cell patients better than 18-year-old Paul. Diagnosed with Sickle Cell
Anemia as a baby, Paul has received blood transfusions all his life.
Thanks to blood donors, Paul is ready to fulfill his dreams of becoming
a music producer and businessman.

Ruth
Giving blood became a regular part of Ruth’s life when her company
held blood drives, and her transition to self-employment didn't
change her commitment. She now Commits for Life by giving platelets
and plasma at her Neighborhood Donor Center to help save more lives.

Timethia
Timethia Commits for Life as a volunteer by raising awareness of
blood needs in her community. The cause became important to her when
she was just 14 and learned how blood donations helped another child
who had Sickle Cell Anemia. “By Committing for Life, I can personally
help someone in their time of need.”

Courtney
Courtney gives blood because, as a doctor, she sees the impact
of blood donations on patients’ lives every day. The need also
became personal when her grandfather was hospitalized two years ago. “If
it wasn’t for blood donors Committing for Life and donating once
a quarter, the blood may not have been there when he needed it.”

DeWayne
Most people who see DeWayne would never suspect that he has Sickle
Cell Anemia. He receives blood every three or four weeks in order to
maintain his health – a need fulfilled by Commit for Life donors.
The blood he receives from volunteer donors gives him the energy to be “just
a regular kid,” says his mom, Christine.

Julia
When Julia’s company hosts a blood drive, it is never a matter
of whether Julia will decide to donate – it’s just a matter
of when. She has known individuals who have needed blood, so she knows
why it is important to Commit for Life. “I know that when I donate
blood, it is the most meaningful and selfless thing I will do that day.”

Jade
Jade may be too young to understand right now, but Commit for Life
has been a part of her life since day one. Jade was born premature
and received blood as an infant. Thanks to blood donors, today
she's growing up healthy and strong.
Hoxi
Blood transfusions were woven into Hoxi’s life’s mural when
she was a child. A Sickle Cell Anemia patient, she frequently received
blood in order to stay healthy. Today, she still relies on donors’ kindness. “Life
goes on for me because there are soldiers with angel wings who take the
time to give blood,” she says.
