Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center has selected the winners of its Commit for Life Scholarship. The scholarship program will award each of 20 local high school seniors a $1,000 scholarship to be applied toward their educations. To apply, students were to use their imaginations and creativity to submit a 20-second video commercial or 500-word essay aimed at educating and inspiring individuals to Commit for Life.
The scholarship was open to any high school senior attending a school that hosted at least two blood drives with The Blood Center during the school year when the scholarship recipients are chosen. Also, the student must plan to attend an institution of higher learning in the year following award of the scholarship.
Each year, thousands of students give back to their community by donating blood and recruiting blood donors. In fact, high school blood drives account for 20 percent of The Blood Center’s total mobile blood drive collections. Congratulations to our 2015 winners!
