You may have recently received a letter in the mail from us thanking you for your donation along with a new green and white donor ID card with the words “One 2 One” on it.
One 2 One is Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s new rare donor program. The program is called One 2 One because the patients who are helped by rare donors often must receive blood that has been specifically matched to them.
Rare” refers to a person’s red blood cell traits, or antigens. An individual’s blood is considered rare if no more than one in every 1,000 people have the same blood traits.
The One 2 One program identifies rare donors, who are required to give specific components based on their particular blood traits in order to maximize the patient benefit of their donation. Rare donors will also awarded bonus Commit for Life points at the end of the year for helping meet this important need.
When you donate, show your One 2 One Donor ID Card to our staff and ask the staff what type of donation you should give as a rare donor. The type of donation we ask you to give will be determined by current patient needs. If you have any questions, please ask our staff at your next visit, visit giveblood.org/one2one or email email@example.com.
