There is a superhero among us. On Wednesday, Jan. 14, Patrick McDonald of Deer Park became the 26th blood donor in the Texas Gulf Coast region to give 800 donations, the equivalent of 100 gallons.
McDonald has been a frequent donor since 1974. He usually donates platelets, which you can give up to 24 times a year, at the Pasadena Neighborhood Donor Center, where he also volunteers as a Community Advocate.
McDonald says he does it because he feels he has always been blessed with good health and wants to help others who have health issues. Following his 800th donation in Pasadena, The Blood Center celebrated McDonald’s achievement and presented him with a plaque in recognition of the many lives his donations have saved.
“Donating blood is an easy way for me to give back to the community,” McDonald said.
Congratulations, Pat, on your incredible commitment to saving lives!
