Every year, The Blood Center takes time during National Volunteer Appreciation Week to thank the volunteers who used their time to help us save lives. On Saturday, April 16, Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Brunch recognized our hardworking and dedicated Commit for Life volunteers. The event was held at The Grove Restaurant located in downtown Houston.
This year’s theme was “You’re kind of a big deal” because that is exactly what they are to us. In 2015, The Blood Center’s volunteers devoted 5,197 hours to raising awareness for blood donors in our community. Last year, 64 new volunteers signed up to Commit for Life to help assist in saving and sustaining lives throughout the community.
Our volunteers play a pivotal role in helping us accomplish our mission. Their assistance in various aspects of our duties has had an unmeasurable effect on the people we help on the daily basis. We are truly fortunate to have them on our team, and to be able to share this experience with them every year.
