Baytown, here we come!
Several months ago, after finishing up a successful grand opening celebration for the Westchase Neighborhood Donor Center, I mentioned to my colleague Lisa Torres, who works in our Product Management Department, that we’d be hard at work again opening another donor center before the end of the year.
“Where at?” she asked.
When I said Baytown, her face lit up. “Finally!” she said. “People out there have been asking me forever, ‘When are you going to open a donor center in Baytown?’”
Lisa lives in Baytown, and she’s not the only Baytown resident who’s had that reaction upon learning about our newest Neighborhood Donor Center.
Another one of my colleagues, Kitty Marquardt, works in our Donor Collections Department and frequently takes calls from blood donors. She sometimes gets as many as three calls a week from people wanting to know when we are coming to Baytown, she said.
Well, Baytown – here we come!
Our Baytown Neighborhood Donor Center is opening at 5010 Garth Road, Suite 210, on Monday, Dec. 22 – that’s just a few days away!
Just a couple days before Christmas, it will be interesting to see how many donors come through the doors. You’ve probably heard us talk about how donations decrease around the holidays, but we still need 1,000 units a day for patients in our hospitals. Hopefully, our Baytown donors can help!
We’ll be having a grand opening celebration with the Baytown Chamber of Commerce on Jan. 28, but if you can help save lives this holiday season by donating blood in the meantime, please do.
