After Maria's first blood donation 10 years ago, she began educating her family on the importance of giving. Their decision to Commit for Life could not have come at a better time, as Maria's younger brother was diagnosed with leukemia in 1999. “He received lots of transfusions, and we are so thankful he is here now,” she says. Today, the family's commitment continues to benefit other patients in need.
