Why Should I Commit for Life?
There is no substitute for blood. It has to come from one person in order to give to another. A regular number of voluntary donations is required every day to meet the need for blood in the Texas Gulf Coast region.

Access to Digital Donor
Digital Donor is a secure, online benefit and service that Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center offers to help you keep track of your donations, eligibility dates and health information, such as cholesterol levels. It's also a way for you to access your Commit for Life benefits, such as shopping in the online store and online scheduling.

400 Points for Every Donation
As of Jan. 1, 2013, all whole blood donations are worth 400 points in the Commit for Life store!
Access to Online Store
Access to Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center's online store is another great benefit of the Commit for Life program.
When you donate, not only do you have the opportunity to help save up to three lives, but you also receive points for your donation.
Points that are accumulated can be used to purchase fun items from the online store. Items include candles, backpacks, shirts, jackets and much more.

Every volunteer blood donation has the opportunity to save up to three lives. Our silver and gold-level Commit for Life donors are recognized on our website.
Participation in Holiday Hugs
Holiday Hugs is a program Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center conducts each year. During the months of November and December, any Commit for Life member may write a note of well wishes to a patient who is in the hospital during the holidays. These notes are meant to help brighten the spirits of individuals during a special time of the year. All Commit for Life members' messages will be hand-delivered to local patients along with adorable, soft teddy bears.
Commit for Life Calendar
Silver and gold-level Commit for Life members will receive the annual Commit for Life calendar. Each month features a touching story from one of the four quadrants of Commit for Life - recipients, donors, volunteers and employees. Stories shared include those of recipients whose lives were saved by a volunteer blood donor or why someone started the life-saving routine of quarterly blood donations.
"First-to-Know" Email Communications
Silver and gold-level donors will be on a special email list, making them the first to know about Blood Center news, benefits and more.
Personalized Tour of The Blood Center
Gold-level donors may request a personalized tour of The Blood Center’s Headquarters through the Commit for Life store. Once you place your order, a member of our staff will contact you to make arrangements.
Holiday Hugs Delivery Raffle
Gold-level donors may use their Commit for Life store points to enter a drawing for a spot on one of The Blood Center’s Holiday Hugs teddy bear deliveries to a local hospital.
CFL Select Store
Gold-level members will have the exclusive opportunity to order premium items from this special addition to the Commit for Life store.
Send a Holiday Hugs Note Electronically
As a gold-level Commit for Life member, you can send a Holiday Hugs note, to be attached to a teddy bear and delivered to a patient, from the comfort of your home. Gold-level members will receive an email with a link to a special web page to submit their note in November or December.
Make An Automated Donation
Make an automated donation, also known as an apheresis donation, and receive even more points! Automated donations include the following types of donations: plasma; double red cells; platelets; split platelets; red cell and plasma; and platelets, and red cells or plasma singly or in combination. Earn 750 points for each double red cell donation and 500 points for all other automated donations.
