Commit for Life Volunteer Benefits
The greatest benefit volunteers receive from donating their time and talents to The Blood Center is the knowledge they have helped save lives! While this personal satisfaction is intangible, we are pleased to offer volunteers tangible benefits as well. These benefits are divided into three levels: gold, silver and bronze. Each hour volunteered brings you a step closer toward reaching the gold level, and ultimately, to saving more lives.
Your Commit for Life level is defined by the number of hours you report.
Levels are as follows:
20 to 29
30 to 39
40 or more

Participation in Holiday Hugs
During the months of November and December, any silver and gold-level Commit for Life member has the opportunity to write a note of well wishes to a patient who is in the hospital during the holidays. These notes are meant to help brighten the spirits of individuals during a special time of the year. Gold-level Commit for Life members' messages will be hand-delivered on adorable, soft teddy bears. These bears are delivered to hospitals to help bring holiday cheer to blood recipients.
All volunteers who fulfill their commitment to serving at least 10 hours per quarter will be featured on the Honor Roll, to be emailed quarterly.
Quarterly Recognition Email
Every quarter you will receive a thank-you email summarizing your volunteer activity from the previous quarter, including lives saved and feedback received.
Earn 200 Commit for Life points for volunteering on the day after a major holiday.
Volunteers who serve at least 10 hours per quarter to reach the gold-level will earn 500 Commit for Life points each year on their anniversary.
Once you reach the gold level by serving 40 hours in a calendar year, you will earn 20 Commit for Life points for every hour served over 40.
Access to Commit for Life Store
Access to the Commit for Life store is another great benefit of the Commit for Life program. Points that are accumulated can be used to purchase fun items from the online store. Items include candles, backpacks, shirts, jackets and much more.
