Creative Scholarship

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center's Commit for Life scholarship program will award 20 local high school seniors $1,000 each to be applied toward their college education.

What It Takes:

Use your imagination and creativity to submit a 20-second video commercial or a 500-word essay that will educate and inspire individuals to save lives as a Commit for Life blood donor.

The top video submission will be aired as a special highlight on TV as part
of Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s advertising campaign.*

Guidelines:

  • Submissions must adhere to the Commit for Life Brand Guide.
  • Video footage including needles or blood drops will not be considered.
  • One entry per student; entries may not be shared. 
  • Each entry will be evaluated on quality, content, creativity, accuracy and persuasiveness. 
  • Videos should be posted to YouTube and include #CFL2015scholarship in the description. 
  • All videos must adhere to YouTube Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

Requirements: 

  • The high school must host at least two blood drives with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center during the school year when the scholarship recipients are chosen. 
  • The scholarships will be available to any graduating senior regardless of whether he or she donates blood. 
  • The student must attend an institution of higher learning in the year following award of the scholarship. 
  • All submissions must be made by March 1.

The scholarship will be awarded in the spring. The check will be made payable directly to the institution of the student’s choice.

The top video submission will be aired as a special highlight on TV as part of Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s advertising campaign. Please note:

  • The top video submission will be aired once during Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s advertising campaign. Date, time and channel of airing to be solely determined by The Blood Center. 
  • The winner of top video submission will be required to email an original copy of the video to Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center upon notification of top selection. 
  • The winner of top video submission may not use their submission to promote any other blood center.

Model Release

I understand that my picture, voice and/or my photographic materials will be recorded electronically and/or photographically by Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center (The Blood Center) or an agent thereof. I grant The Blood Center irrevocable permission to use these audio, video, motion picture or photographic recordings of me for its own use or distribution at the sole discretion of The Blood Center.

I understand that these may be released to the public by or through The Blood Center or have possible distribution by the news media, or in broadcast, print and/or internet media.

I understand that my name may be used in connection with these materials.

I waive all rights, interests or claims for payment in connection with any exhibition or release of these materials.

This consent is voluntary, and I give it in the interest of public information and education, and the furtherance of the mission and goals of The Blood Center or for other lawful purposes.
