Cy-Fair resident Lan Cheah is the proud winner of a set of his-and-hers Fossil-brand Commit for Life watches from Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. Cheah is one of four winners who will receive a set of watches through The Blood Center's Diamonds for Donors promotion, in which all who donate or attempt to donate in April are eligible.
Cheah made her winning blood donation at the Cy-Fair Neighborhood Donor Center, at 11811 FM 1960 West, Suite 120. She can also usually be found donating at blood drives at Jacobs Engineering, where she is an environmental engineer.
Cheah truly understands what it means to be a blood donor. More than 20 years ago, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and needed blood. After that time, Cheah decided to Commit for Life as a regular blood donor. Her brother later required blood as a cancer patient, and her niece benefited from blood donations as a premature baby.
"We make donating blood a family affair," Cheah says. "My son is 21, and he helps save lives, too."
Individuals are encouraged to make it a life-saving summer. Commit for Life donors who successfully complete two donations or a single double red cell donation between May 1 and Aug. 31 will be eligible to order a Kroger gift card worth $15 from the Commit for Life store. Once they have become eligible, a donor may log on to the Commit for Life store at www.giveblood.org to order their complimentary gift card. A handling fee of 200 Commit for Life store points applies. For more information or to schedule your donation, visit www.giveblood.org or call 1(888) 482-5663.
