Donors Set New Record for July Collections
Thanks to Commit for Life donors throughout our 26-county region, Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center collected 27,595 units in July 2012, making it the best July in Blood Center history.
While the American Red Cross recently reported historically low donation levels, The Blood Center’s dedicated donors are ensuring that a healthy blood supply continues to be available for patients in our region – even during the traditionally low-collection summer months.
This consistent blood supply is possible thanks to Commit for Life donors who help meet the ongoing need for donations by giving at least once a quarter. Even as we celebrate record July collections, The Blood Center must continue to collect about 1,000 donations every day to meet patient needs.
Donors who help meet those needs in August will be thanked with a sweet treat. Thanks to the little creamery in Brenham, all who donate or attempt to donate at any Neighborhood Donor Center or mobile blood drive through Aug. 31 will receive a gift certificate for a free pint of Blue Bell Ice Cream in any flavor.
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is an independent, non-profit blood center that is not affiliated with the American Red Cross. The Blood Center serves more than 170 hospitals and health care facilities across the Texas Gulf Coast, East Texas and Brazos Valley regions.
