Helping the New Orleans Blood Supply after Hurricane Isaac
On Thursday, Aug. 30, Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center sent several units to help the blood supply in New Orleans following Hurricane Isaac.
The Blood Center was able to help meet patient needs in New Orleans thanks to the ongoing commitment of our local donors. Donors who Commit for Life by giving at least once a quarter provide an adequate blood supply for local patients first – and others when additional units are available.
Here in the Texas Gulf Coast region, 1,000 donations are needed every day to help patients in the more than 170 health care facilities we serve.
Eligible donors are encouraged to give blood so needs in Houston and elsewhere can continue to be met. For blood drive and Neighborhood Donor Center locations, click here or call 1(888) 482-5663.
