Congratulations Tonya Freeland

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is excited to congratulate Tonya Freeland, one of two winners in the Continental Airlines BusinessFirst giveaway. Tonya is the winner of two BusinessFirst tickets to any Transatlantic, Pacific, Hawaii or Brazil destination where Continental flies.

Her name was randomly selected from more than 30,000 individuals who donated or attempted to donate between Nov. 21 and Dec. 31, 2005. The BusinessFirst giveaway was held to encourage blood donations during the holiday season, an important time for blood donations since many regular donors go out of town and are unable to donate.

Freeland, a stay-at-home mom of three young children, recently chose to Commit for Life and donate at least once a quarter. She encourages others to Commit for Life and has recruited both her sister and her husband to give blood with her. Freeland said she and her husband plan to use the tickets to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary this year.

Doug McClain, chief information and donor services officer for The Blood Center, presented the tickets to Freeland in a Jan. 31 ceremony at Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s headquarters.
