Congratulations to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital!
 

Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital has always hosted blood drives with The Blood Center East Texas, but lately they have “raised the bar” for their employees.  Tim Hayward, hospital administrator, and Marilyn Wright, blood drive chair, put their heads together to come up with a new challenge for the hospital staff.  They set a goal for 100 donors to come to Bright Pavilion and attempt to donate blood for the July blood drive.

Previously, Hayward had approved a raffle that would give a day off with pay to as many as 10 employees who donated or attempted to donate. But for the July drive, Wright wanted to up the offer. Hayward agreed to offer a raffle that would give 15 days off with pay to 15 different employees who attempted to donate blood and save lives.

Previous blood drives had brought in 70 to 75 volunteer donors, but The Blood Center staff saw a record-setting 90 donors for the July drive!  Their efforts resulted in 69 donations and 207 lives saved! Their goal of 100 donors was nearly met, but great strides were made toward making that goal a reality.

Thank you, Tim Hayward, for thanking your staff with the “go ahead” for the 15 days off with pay to 15 life-saving donors. The dedicated employees, management and chairperson truly show what teamwork can do in supporting blood donations and saving lives in the East Texas region.
