About 11,060 children in the U.S. under the age of 15 will be diagnosed with cancer in 2019. Many of them will need blood, particularly platelets, that restores blood volume and helps repair damaged bone marrow cells.
We cannot manufacture blood — willing donors must voluntarily give it.
This September, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we’ve set our goal at 25,100 donations because blood transfusions are crucial for these children’s recovery during cancer treatment.

We were honored recently to celebrate the end of one of our recipient’s cancer treatments at a bell-ringing ceremony.
Jeshua, a 13-year-old from Spring Branch, was diagnosed with leukemia in August 2018. He went through eight months of treatment, which required platelets and red blood cell transfusions. Now, his family hopes to host blood drives at his school every year to help others because blood was available when Jeshua needed it.
Thank you for saving lives with us. You are a real-life hero.
