Business, organizations, churches and schools partner with us regularly to host blood drives in convenient locations across the 26 counties we serve. Because of these efforts, hundreds of thousands of units of blood are collected for hospital patients. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center remains grateful for each person who helps make that possible because every donation makes an impact.
The year 2020 has been particularly challenging because we saw decreased blood donations as word spread about the COVID-19 crisis. Throughout the “Work at Home” order many of us were under, our hospitals still needed a steady supply of blood to serve patients. Several groups stepped up to ensure we were able to meet those needs.
We’d like to highlight a few groups who collected more than 200 units of blood between March 15–May 31, when blood collection remained vital to the community.
Lakewood Church held 10 drives and collected 1,166 units
Memorial Hermann System held 14 drives and collected 526 units
Woodlands Church Fellowship Campus held nine drives and collected 474 units
White Oak Music Hall held eight drives and collected 375 units
The Berry Center (Cypress-Fairbanks ISD) held nine drives and collected 357 units
NRG Center hosted eight drives and collected 346 units
Leonard E. Merrell Center (Katy ISD) held six drives and collected 340 units
Woodlands Church Atascocita held nine drives and collected 272 units
Moody Gardens held five drives and collected 222 units
St. Martin’s Episcopal Church held five drives and collected 217 units
League City United Methodist held seven drives and collected 204 units
We can’t express enough gratitude to all who help us meet our mission of saving lives in our community. You are true heroes to the patients and their families who depend on us.
If your team is interested in learning more about hosting a blood drive with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, visit our website for more information. We’d love to work with you.
And if you’re group can’t get together physically, consider hosting a virtual blood drive. Through this newly launched initiative, your team can make an impact by donating blood at convenient locations across the Gulf Coast, Brazos Valley and East Texas regions.
