Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center Breaks Ground with New Facility

04/20/2022

COLLEGE STATION - Grab your hard hat and shovel and join us on Friday, April 22 at 1 p.m. as Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center breaks ground on its new Brazos Valley Donor and Operations Center at Northwest Corner Krenek Tap Road and State Highway 6 College Station, Texas, 77840.

The new 3.04-acre area will feature a 10,800 square foot building, covered fleet parking for more efficient loading and unloading, circular operational traffic flow for donor coaches, growth space for additional fleet, increased warehouse and mobile operations space, and secure fencing.

“The groundbreaking event signifies Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center believes in the community of College Station,” said Marc Lewis, Vice President of Operations at Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. “Our plans to grow our footprint and services in the community are hinged on our community engagement. We believe there is no power for change more significant than the community we serve.”

The new facility will also be home to our community’s new donor center, which will replace our current facility, The Blood Center at Brazos Valley, located at 1701 Rock Prairie Rd, College Station, TX 77845.

“The new Brazos Valley Donor and Operations Center will give us the ability to have better visibility and provide donors with the best experience to meet the patient needs of College Station,” Lewis said.

The event will feature a small ceremony, photo and interview opportunities with city leaders and Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s executive team, snacks, and beverages.

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is the sole provider of blood and blood components 24/7 to more than 170 hospitals and health care facilities in a 26-county Texas Gulf Coast region. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is a nonprofit organization and is accredited by the Food and Drug Administration.
