Local Blood Center Keeps it Local After 30 Years

8/1/2022
Have you heard the scoop? Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center still keeps it local by celebrating a three-decade-long partnership with Blue Bell Creameries this August as part of our annual Pint for Pint promotion. Donors have made Blue Bell a tradition, and we are continuing the tradition for 2022.
Dating back to 1990, Blue Bell Creameries has consistently been saving lives with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center by donating vouchers for free pints of ice cream to thank donors for their donations. Promotional items give donors an extra incentive and encourage the community to roll up their sleeves and donate blood.
“Blue Bell is proud to have partnered with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center for the past 32 years. It is important for us to get involved, and help serve in the communities we operate in,” said Lauren Lewis Public Relations Specialist with Blue Bell Creameries. If we can be a small part in something that helps a lot of people, then that is great,” Lewis said.
Every day our community relies on the constant need for blood and blood products for our hospitals and the patients we serve, and partnering with Blue Bell will help maintain an adequate supply for our community. We typically see a decline in donors in the summer due to schools being out, people traveling, and appointments not being kept. And the number one reason why people don’t donate is that they were never asked. Here is your invitation!
During the Pint for Pint promotion, all successful donors will receive a voucher from Blue Bell for a free pint of ice cream, redeemable at your local grocery store, when they donate a pint from Aug. 1-31. Blue Bell Creameries is an American food company that manufactures ice cream, sherbet, and a variety of frozen snacks and ranks as one of the best-selling ice creams in the country. Blue Bell has production facilities in Texas, Oklahoma, and Alabama and employs approximately 3,000 people at its three production facilities, 65 distribution facilities, and 23 transfer stations across 23 states. We cannot serve our community alone, and our partners are essential to our life-saving mission.
