Sofia’s Story:
Blood Donors Help Sofia Find Her Strength
In February 2024, Sofia was diagnosed with leukemia. The first months brought intensive treatment, but blood and platelet transfusions helped her grow stronger and move into the maintenance stage of care. Sofia is an artistic, animal-loving girl who enjoys painting, singing, and learning about her favorite creatures, especially lions.
Even on difficult days, she finds silver linings and once told her mom, “At least we get to spend more time together.” Her family says community support has been just as important as medical care. Neighbors, classmates, and church members have rallied around with encouragement and strength. Her mother shares, “Gulf Coast Blood gives us peace of mind. Because of donors, my daughter gets what she needs when she needs it. And for that, we are forever grateful.”
