At Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, we are committed to advancing scientific research by providing high-quality blood products to researchers and institutions around the world. Our selection of blood products is tailored to meet the diverse needs of the research community, ensuring that your studies are supported by reliable and ethically sourced materials.
Why Choose Us?
- Quality Assurance: We adhere to the highest standards of quality and safety, ensuring that all our blood products are rigorously tested and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Ethical Sourcing: Our blood products are obtained through voluntary donations, with the consent of donors and in accordance with all ethical guidelines.
- Comprehensive Selection: We offer a wide range of blood products to suit various research needs.
Blood Products:
Buffy Coats/Leukopaks (Source Leukocytes)
White blood cell concentrates (buffy coat) prepared from a single unit of whole blood by centrifugation. Product also contains red blood cells, plasma, and negligible amount of anticoagulant CPD. Cell counts, HLA typing, and QC testing are not performed on source leukocytes. Cell counts may vary in distribution. Volume 25 – 76 mL.
Plasma, Frozen or Liquid
Plasma separated from whole blood by centrifugation (minimum volume 180 mL, anticoagulant CPD). Plasma contains plasma proteins and coagulation factors.
- Plasma, frozen at -18C or colder within 24 hours of collection, or
- Plasma, liquid stored at 1 – 6C
Platelets, Outdated Apheresis
Single donor apheresis platelet collected in ACD-A anticoagulant and suspended in plasma. One unit of Apheresis Platelets contains ≥ 3.0 × 1011 platelets. Specific cell counts are not available. Storage at room temperature (20 – 24C). Volume 100 – 400 mL. Expired product.
Whole Blood, Salvage
Low volume whole blood not suitable for patient use. Collected in anticoagulant CPD. Not leukocyte reduced. Minimum volume 150 mL
Whole Blood, Surplus
Whole blood in surplus of patient transfusion needs. Only available as Type A+. Collected in anticoagulant CPD. Volume 450 – 550 mL. Not leukocyte reduced.
Red Blood Cells, Leukoreduced
Red blood cells prepared by centrifuging whole blood to remove as much plasma as possible and replacing the plasma with ADSOL (AS-1) red cell preservative solution. Minimum volume 280 mL.
Leukoreduction System Chamber
Subsidiary cell products retained in leukoreduction system (LRS) chambers provided via leukoreduced plateletpheresis using the Trima Accel apheresis instrument. Rich in white blood cells.

Liquid Recovered Plasma, J Grade
Liquid recovered plasma for manufacture of non-injectable products. Product specifications: Straw to green in color, visible to moderate lipemia, slight to moderate hemolysis; no odor or particulate matter; good condition, not broken or leaking. Minimum volume 130 mL
