The holiday season is here, and with it comes the opportunity to give back and make a difference in our community. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is proud to continue its beloved Holiday Hugs tradition from November 1 to December 15. Partnering once again with BEAR Houston (BE A Resource for CPS Kids), we are offering several meaningful ways for those looking to bring holiday cheer and give back to their community.
Cryoport and Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center Launch Strategic Alliance to Enhance Cellular Therapy Services
NASHVILLE, Tenn., and HOUSTON, Texas – October 22, 2024 – Cryoport, Inc. (NASDAQ: CYRX) ("Cryoport"), a global leader in supply chain solutions for the life sciences industry, and Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center (“GCRBC”), a non-profit community blood center serving more than 26 counties throughout the state of Texas, today announced a strategic alliance to enhance the availability of high-quality, manufacture-ready cryopreserved allogeneic leukopaks for cellular therapy research, development, and treatment.
Blood for Emergencies: Saving Lives Faster
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is proud to announce a new partnership with Brazoria County Emergency Services District No. 3 (BCESD 3) that will strengthen emergency response capabilities in our community. Beginning on September 30, 2024, BCESD 3’s emergency vehicles will be equipped with life-saving blood components, including red cells and plasma, ensuring these critical resources are available when time is of the essence.
Know your Trait During Sickle Cell Awareness Month
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is excited to announce the return of our Sickle Cell Awareness Month campaign this September. In our ongoing commitment to battle sickle cell disease (SCD), we are once again offering complimentary sickle cell trait screening for all Black donors who visit our donor centers or mobile blood drives from September 1-30, 2024.
Blood Collectors Week 2024
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is celebrating the 19th Annual Blood Collectors Week, which will take place from September 1 to 7, 2024. This special week is dedicated to recognizing and honoring the extraordinary contributions of our professional blood collectors, whose dedication and skill are vital to our mission of saving and sustaining lives.
Take Action: Blood Donors and Blood Drives Needed
Action is Needed! Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is calling on our community to donate blood or host a blood drive to help maintain an adequate supply and prevent shortages in our area. The nation's blood supply is currently under significant strain, with a need for platelets, O-positive, and O-negative blood. The blood community is urging eligible individuals nationwide to donate blood or platelets as soon as possible.
Supplies for Success: Partnering Together for Back-To-School
It's that time of year again! Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and BE A Resource (BEAR) Houston are partnering again to give back and support at-risk and CPS-involved children as they head back to school. From August 1 to August 15, 2024, blood donors can make a difference in our community by donating essential school supplies at any of Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center's Neighborhood Donor Centers.

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center has joined the National Blood Collaborative (NBC). This partnership aligns us with top blood centers across the nation, enhancing our ability to innovate and support hospitals and communities. Together, we aim to tackle industry challenges and improve blood management services.
Blood Donations Needed After Hurricane Beryl
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and our community’s blood supply have been significantly impacted by Hurricane Beryl, which made landfall early July 8, 2024. Many blood drives throughout the area were canceled, and several community donor centers were temporarily closed due to power outages, hindering our on-hand blood supply. Despite these challenges, collecting and supplying blood for our area hospitals remains our top priority.
Join Our Community's Heroes to Battle and Save Lives
Gear up for the ultimate showdown as our community's police and firefighters "battle" it out to see who can save the most lives this summer—one pint of blood at a time! Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is hosting its annual Battle of the Badges campaign, aimed at ensuring a sufficient blood supply for our community while honoring the courageous efforts of our local police and fire departments from July 1-5, 2024.
20 Years of Celebration and Saving Lives
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is celebrating the 20th anniversary of World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) on June 14, 2024. This global event, established in 2005 by the World Health Organization (WHO), is dedicated to raising awareness about the need for a safe supply of blood and blood products and to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving donations.

Fulshear, we have you covered! Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is proud to announce the grand opening of our newest Fulshear Donor Center on Thursday, June 13, making donating blood more convenient for our Fulshear and surrounding communities.
Help Us Keep The Blood Supply Strong
In light of the recent storm, Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is asking for our community’s support to keep our blood supply strong. Several blood drives have been canceled, and community donor centers such as Cy-Fair and Cypress are temporarily closed due to power outages. We emphasize the importance of maintaining an adequate blood supply, especially during emergencies.
Volunteering Saves Lives in our Community
It's National Volunteer Week, and Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is spotlighting the contributions of its dedicated volunteers and encouraging our community to get involved and support non-profit organizations in our region. From April 21-27, we will celebrate the impact of volunteerism and express gratitude to those who generously give their time and talents to support our life-saving mission.
Stack Up the Goodness And Save Lives
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is teaming up again with IHOP to bring you a deliciously sweet deal that will 'stack' up the goodness. From April 8 to April 29, all successful donors will receive a certificate for a free shortstack of buttermilk pancakes at participating IHOP restaurants in the Greater Houston and Nacogdoches Areas when they donate blood.
Saddle Up, Save Lives, and Win Big This Rodeo Season
Houston, saddle up. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is kicking off the Rodeo season with an exciting promotion you don't want to miss. Host a blood drive or donate blood at any of our 17 donor centers or mobile blood drives from February 15 - March 17 for a chance to win one of many prizes, including Jonas Brothers' tickets.
The Krewe is Back: Mardi Gras Returns in 2024
Join the Krewe and donate blood! Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and Mardi Gras! Galveston are partnering again to kick off the 2024 year. Together, we set our eyes on another year of saving lives and addressing our community's ongoing need for blood. Donors will receive a complimentary general admission ticket to Mardi Gras! Galveston when they donate blood from January 18 to 24, 2024.

Houston Unites to Saves Lives During National Blood Donor Month
January is National Blood Donor Month, and Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is celebrating our community's generous volunteer blood donors, emphasizing their critical role in sustaining our community's blood supply. These individuals play a crucial role in sustaining the health and well-being of our healthcare system, and their commitment is particularly vital during the winter months when the supply often faces a decline. Throughout this month, our primary goal is to heighten awareness about the ongoing need for blood donations and encourage our community to become regular blood donors.
Mixed Reality
Abbott and Blood Centers of America introduce an immersive mixed-reality experience to transform blood donation. Our aim is to make it easier and more relaxing, attracting new donors and motivating the younger generation. By addressing the global challenge of sustaining a reliable blood supply, our immersive digital technology allows blood donation professionals to conduct safe interactions with donors.
