Madelyn’s Story:
How Donations Gave Madelyn the Power to Keep Going
At just nine years old, Madelyn was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma after months of unexplained pain, leading to multiple surgeries, rounds of chemotherapy, proton therapy, lung radiation, and ongoing monitoring for new growths. Throughout her treatment, blood and platelet donations were essential, with some weeks requiring multiple transfusions that restored her strength and helped her keep fighting.
Despite everything, Madelyn remains outgoing, energetic, and athletic, refusing to let her diagnosis define her. Her community has rallied with blood drives in her honor, each donor giving her the chance to keep living the childhood she deserves. Her father says, “Without donors, kids like Madelyn would not be able to live the life they do.”
