Marisa’s Story:
A Fighting Chance, Thanks to Blood Donors
On August 21, 2024, Marisa went in for a scheduled C-section to welcome her triplet daughters, but what should have been a joyful day instantly became a fight for her life when she suffered a rare and life-threatening amniotic fluid embolism, causing her heart to stop. Doctors performed CPR for 45 minutes as her body simultaneously clotted and bled, and to survive, she needed more than 100 units of blood within just a few hours, all provided by selfless donors in our community. Because of them, Marisa is here today, raising four beautiful children, baking cookies for her family, reading, and cherishing every moment.
