Joshua’s Story:
A Scout’s Strength Through Adversity
In November 2023, Josh was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma in his upper tibia, beginning a difficult journey of chemotherapy and a 13-hour surgery to replace the diseased bone with a donor graft. Blood and platelet transfusions restored his strength during treatment and gave him the stability he needed before surgery, helping him continue his fight.
Through it all, Josh stayed active in the Boy Scouts and worked on his Eagle Scout project while maintaining his passion for history, geography, weather, and cheering for the Houston Astros. For his family, Gulf Coast Blood became a true source of support, with staff encouraging him throughout treatment and even supporting his scouting efforts, proving how every donation can impact a life in ways far beyond the transfusion itself.
