HOUSTON, TX – This Thanksgiving, Gulf Coast Blood is encouraging our Houston community to give back in a meaningful way: by donating blood. As the largest blood supplier in the region, serving more than 170 hospitals, Gulf Coast Blood relies on community donors to ensure hospital patients in need can receive life-saving transfusions.

“During the holidays, blood donations can drop just when patients need us most,” Theresa Pina, Gulf Coast Blood’s Chief Growth Officer, said. “By giving blood, Houstonians can save lives. We can help families, accident victims and those battling cancer get the care that they need.”

November is also National Diabetes Awareness Month, and Gulf Coast Blood is proud to support the health of our community by offering free A1C testing to donors. This simple test helps identify blood sugar levels and can be an important step in managing or preventing diabetes. Many people living with diabetes may also require blood transfusions during surgery or complications. Your donation can make a difference for them and countless others.

As the only 24/7 blood center in the region, Gulf Coast Blood ensures hospital patients always have access to life-saving transfusions.

Schedule your donation today and get free A1C testing. Visit giveblood.org and give the gift of life this Thanksgiving!
