The demand for blood increases during the winter holidays. Blood and platelet transfusions are the lifeline for many patients in local hospitals. Since there is no substitute for blood, many people rely on donors for transfusions. Diego, once battling leukemia, was declared cancer-free in 2021 after receiving many blood transfusions as part of his therapy at Texas Children’s Hospital. Diego is a very active kid who loves to play and ride his bike. He
feels tremendous gratitude toward those who sacrifice their time to donate blood.
In 2022, Lynlee was diagnosed with Hemolytic–uremic syndrome from E. coli, which led to kidney failure and required dialysis. Lynnlee regained her energy and returned to her favorite activities, such as playing T-ball and dancing. Her family is incredibly thankful to the blood donors who helped Lynnlee return to her happy, active self, filling their lives with joy and gratitude.
