Lance Lightfoot

General Counsel

Lance joined Gulf Coast Blood in July 2025 and serves as the organization's chief legal advisor.  With a deep commitment to ethics, collaboration, and operational excellence, Lance is focused on protecting and strengthening the organization's mission.  He will play a key role in helping Gulf Coast Blood advance and grow its work in blood research and biotherapies. 

Lance graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.  He then attained a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center, focusing his studies in health law, and has been licensed to practice law in Texas since 1999.  Prior to joining Gulf Coast Blood, Lance served as SVP & Chief Legal Officer at Texas Children’s Hospital. He has broad experience in corporate governance, complex transactions, claims and litigation management, and compliance efforts that reduce risk and help organizations achieve their strategic goals.

When not working, Lance enjoys traveling, attending live music and theatre, rooting for Houston's sports teams and spending time with his family.
