Gulf Coast Blood Announces Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of New Memorial Donor Center

Houston, TX — Gulf Coast Blood is proud to announce the grand opening and ribbon cutting of its newest donor center, Gulf Coast Blood – Memorial. The new facility marks an important expansion of the organization’s commitment to strengthening the regional blood supply and advancing lifesaving care across the communities it serves.

Spanning 4,526 square feet, the donor center features 10 donor chairs designed to provide a comfortable and efficient donation experience while increasing the organization’s capacity to serve local patients and hospitals.

“Every blood donation has the power to save lives, and ensuring patients have access to the blood they need starts with making donation opportunities more accessible to our communities,” said Theresa Pina, Gulf Coast Blood’s Chief Growth Officer. “The opening of Gulf Coast Blood – Memorial expands access to convenient donation opportunities for donors across West Houston while helping ensure local hospitals have the lifesaving blood products they need. We’re grateful to every donor who will make this center a part of their commitment to saving lives, and look forward to continuing serving the Memorial community for years to come.”

As the region’s only 24/7 blood provider and one of the nation’s largest community blood centers, Gulf Coast Blood supplies blood and biotherapies to more than 170 hospitals and healthcare facilities across 26 counties. Opening this new donor center will help support the organization’s daily need for 1,000 blood donations while enhancing capabilities that support biotech, pharmaceutical, and academic research initiatives.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will include remarks from Gulf Coast Blood leadership and community partners, followed by a guided media tour of the state-of-the-art facility and opportunities for interviews. The new donor center was designed to enhance the donor experience while expanding blood collection capacity to meet the growing needs of the region.
