A leukopak is an enriched leukapheresis product collected from normal peripheral blood. It is composed of a variety of blood cells including monocytes, lymphocytes, platelets, plasma, and red cells. A leukopak contains a higher concentration of cells as compared to standard venipuncture collection methods or buffy coat products.

Leukopaks, mononuclear cells (MNCs) and/or hematopoietic stem cells (HPC) from stimulated donors are collected under IRB-approved protocol.

Source: Leukopaks are collected at our licensed leukapheresis centers located in Houston, Texas.

Format: Fresh non-mobilized leukopaks.

Donors Criteria: Donors have an approved consent for donating leukocytes. All donors are screened to ensure that each of them is in good health condition and that products are not collected from a high-risk population for blood-borne infections.

Donor Data Provided: Age, gender and race.

Testing: Donors are tested for HBS, HBC, HCV, NHIV, NHCV, NHBV, HIV, HTLV, CMV, STS, ABRH, NWNV, CHAG and Hemoglobin S

White blood cells and platelets abound in buffy coat products obtained from whole blood. Buffy coats are a useful source of cells for in vitro study. Because of the variability of white blood cell populations in buffy coat products, further processing and characterization are usually necessary.

Source: The whole blood is collected at one of our 17 licensed blood centers located in the US or at one of blood drives. Whole blood is further processed in our processing centers to produce the buffy coats.

Donors Criteria: Donors have an approved consent for donating blood. All donors are screened to ensure that each of them is in good health condition and that products are not collected from a high-risk population for blood-borne infections.

Donor Data Provided: Age, gender, race and blood group.

Testing: Donors are tested for HBS, HBC, HCV, NHIV, NHCV, NHBV, HIV, HTLV, CMV, STS, ABRH, NWNV, CHAG and Hemoglobin S

Peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) donation is one of two procedures for collecting blood-forming cells for bone marrow transplants. The same blood-forming cells seen in bone marrow can also be detected in circulating (peripheral) blood.

PBSC donation is a noninvasive process known as apheresis. The donation process take from 4-8 hours in our certified blood facility.

Autologous:

The stem cells in autologous transplants come from the same person who will get the transplant, so the patient is their own donor.

Allogeneic:

The stem cells in allogeneic transplants are from a person other than the patient, either a matched related or unrelated donor.

Source: PBSCs are collected at our licensed centers located in Houston, Texas.

Donors Criteria: Donors have an approved consent for donating leukocytes. All donors are screened to ensure that each of them is in good health condition and that products are not collected from a high-risk population for blood-borne infections.

Donor Data Provided: Age, gender and race.
