We care about our donors more than you may know. You take time out of your busy schedule to visit either a blood drive or a Donor Center, and you donate blood. You understand that many others need blood products for illnesses or trauma and that there is no alternative for human blood. You care deeply about those in your community and find pride and joy in doing a selfless act.
That’s why we want to give back to our donors. We’re offering free cholesterol screenings with every successful blood donation from August 1 until December 31.
High cholesterol can lead to heart disease and stroke, but it’s usually symptomless, so it’s important to regularly screen for high cholesterol for your heart health. Generally, to get a cholesterol screening, you would visit your doctor to get your blood work done, but by donating at Gulf Coast Blood, you can get this screening and do something good at the same time.
We’ll measure your total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides. Afterward, you can find your results in your digital donor account within two weeks of your donation. Additionally, we encourage you to download the digital donor app, as it is the easiest way to view your test results.
When you get your results, you may be wondering, “What now?” Great question!
We are so happy to be able to provide you with your results, but we cannot diagnose medical conditions, so if there is something about your levels that you would like to discuss, please reach out to a medical provider.
We are so grateful to all our donors for helping to keep our communities healthy, so we’re excited to offer this free screening as a way to take care of your own health. Save lives and learn more about your heart by scheduling your appointment at giveblood.org.
