Blood Donors Made Lillie's Story Possible
Lillie was diagnosed at just four years old with hereditary spherocytosis, a rare form of anemia that causes red blood cells to break down faster than normal. Blood transfusions became essential to keeping her stable. When parvovirus stopped her bone marrow from producing new blood cells, she needed six units of blood to survive. With each blood transfusion, her color, energy, and laughter returned.
Today, Lillie is thriving. She enjoys crocheting with her grandmother, playing soccer, practicing aerial yoga, and participating in Junior Girl Scouts. Her experience has inspired people throughout her community to donate blood in her honor.
Your next blood donation could help someone like Lillie keep doing what they love.
