April is National Donate Life Month

Organizations across the country are raising awareness about organ donation this month. April is used to encourage Americans to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors. It’s also a time to celebrate all the lives saved through organ donation.

Being an organ donor is one of the greatest gifts you can give to someone. At Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, we’ve had the honor to talk to some of the recipients.

It’s time to celebrate and recognize lab workers during Medical Laboratory Professionals Week! 

What exactly is this week about? Medical Laboratory Professionals Week started in 1975, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It’s an opportunity to increase public awareness and understanding and appreciation for lab workers for one week at the end of April.

Did you know volunteering can boost your mental health? That is what a recent study published in the Journal of Happiness Studies says. The study showed people who volunteered at least once a month reported better mental health than the people who did not volunteer at all.
